Step-by-Step Instructions for Sourdough Pesto Grilled Cheese
  1. Gather all ingredients, including sourdough, mozzarella, and pesto. Prepare optional ingredients if using.
  2. Butter the top of each slice of sourdough, then place them butter-side-down in a frying pan.
  3. Layer 3-4 slices of mozzarella on each slice of bread, then add basil pesto and optional ingredients.
  4. Top with another slice of mozzarella and another slice of sourdough to create the sandwich.
  5. Butter the top side of the sandwich, then cook over medium heat until the bottom is golden-brown.
  6. Flip the sandwich carefully after 3-4 minutes and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
  7. Remove from pan, let cool for a minute, slice, and serve.
