  • 4 ounces Gouda Cheese Sliced; other cheeses like fontina or mozzarella can be swapped

For the Sage Butter
  • 3 tablespoons Unsalted Butter Softened
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Sage Chopped; fresh is recommended

Equipment

  • Skillet

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small mixing bowl, combine unsalted butter with chopped fresh sage, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until well blended and creamy. Set aside.
  2. Thinly slice the apple and gouda cheese, aiming for about 1/8 inch thickness.
  3. Spread the sage butter generously on one side of each slice of bread. Layer the gouda cheese, followed by apple slices, and optional turkey bacon. Top with another slice of bread, buttered side up.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes, pressing gently to ensure even browning. Flip once golden brown.
  5. Remove sandwiches once both sides are golden brown and cheese is melted. Let rest for 1 minute before slicing in half.
