  • 1 pound Boneless Skinless Chicken Thighs Cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 0.5 cup Cornstarch Substitute with gluten-free flour if needed
For the Marinade
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Choose a light oil
  • 3 cloves Garlic Finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Finely grated
  • 1 tablespoon Brown Sugar Or regular sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Adjust to taste
For the Spice Mix
  • 1 teaspoon White Pepper Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Five-Spice Powder
For Garnishing
  • 1 tablespoon Basil Or Nori Sheets
  • 2 wedge Lemon For squeezing
  • 1 maximum Sliced Hot Peppers Optional

Method
 

Marinating and Cooking
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine chicken thighs with vegetable oil, grated garlic, ginger, brown sugar, and salt. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Mix white pepper powder, salt, brown sugar, and five-spice powder in a separate bowl to create the spice blend.
  3. Sprinkle cornstarch over marinated chicken and toss to coat evenly. Shake off excess cornstarch.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (176°C) for 5 minutes. Arrange chicken in a single layer in the fryer basket. Cook for 10 minutes.
  5. After 10 minutes, flip the chicken pieces, spray with more oil, and increase temperature to 400°F (200°C). Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  6. Transfer cooked chicken to a bowl and sprinkle with spice mix. Toss gently to coat.
  7. Garnish with basil or nori, serve with lemon wedges and sliced hot peppers.
