Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Prepare the Roast: Place the chuck roast flat in a slow cooker or an oven-safe pot.
  2. Make the Marinade: Whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, rice vinegar, brown sugar, minced garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and chili flakes until smooth.
  3. Coat the Roast: Generously coat the chuck roast with the marinade.
  4. Cook the Roast: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or bake at 325°F for 3-4 hours.
  5. Rest the Roast: Remove the roast and cover it with foil to keep warm.
  6. Prepare the Glaze: Pour remaining cooking liquid into a saucepan and bring to a simmer.
  7. Thicken the Sauce: Stir in the cornstarch slurry and whisk for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  8. Glaze the Roast: Return the roast to the pot and pour the thickened glaze over the top.
