Ingredients
  

For the Curry
  • 1 pound Ground Beef choose lean or full-fat
  • 1 Onion finely diced
  • 1-2 Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil neutral
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic minced
  • 2-3 Black Cardamom Pods whole
  • 4-5 Black Peppercorns whole
  • 3-4 Cloves whole
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chili Powder adjust to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder
  • 2 medium Potatoes cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala for finishing
  • 1 bunch Fresh Coriander for garnish
  • 2 Green Chilies for garnish

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat cooking oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onions and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden.
  2. Add black cardamom, black peppercorns, and cloves to the pot. Stir for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes, ginger, garlic, salt, red chili powder, turmeric, cumin, and coriander. Cook for 5-7 minutes until tomatoes break down.
  4. Add ground beef to the pot, breaking it apart while cooking for 8-10 minutes until browned.
  5. Pour in water to keep the mixture moist, cover, and reduce heat to medium-low for 15 minutes.
  6. Uncover pot, increase heat to evaporate excess moisture for about 5 minutes.
  7. Add potatoes and water, cover and simmer for 15 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  8. Taste and adjust with water if needed, stir in garam masala, and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander and green chilies. Serve warm with roti or basmati rice.
