Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a medium-sized baking dish.
  2. Bring water to a boil in a large pot, add the mixed winter vegetables and steam or blanch for 3-4 minutes until just tender.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the steamed vegetables, cream of mushroom soup, milk, and shredded cheese. Mix in thyme, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Transfer the mixture into the greased baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs and melted butter until coated and sprinkle over the casserole.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
